Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) is likely to start its national training camp for both men and women by the first week of August, in Sonepat and Lucknow respectively. The Olympic bound athletes would get the first priority, while it is expected to expand to other categories as well.

The Wrestling Federation of India has decided to include a group of wrestlers, who will turn seniors of January 1, 2021, in the national trails for the rescheduled Asian Olympics qualifiers. The decision will make the qualification process for the senior wrestlers even more tougher.

According to a report published by The Tribune, Bajrang Punia, the No. 1 wrestler in the world in the 65kg category, has parted ways with his longtime coach Shako Bentinidis. Bentinidis was not a famous figure among the wrestling community in India as he had a fractious relationship with the WFI.

According to reports, Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) is likely to sack men’s freestyle national coach Hossein Karimi, six months after the Iranian was hired on a contract till the Tokyo Olympics. It has been learned that Karimi himself is not happy with the way things work in India.
