The trio of Desmond Haynes, Floyd Reifer and Phil Simmons have been shortlisted for the role of the head coach of the West Indies men's team. Cricket West Indies (CWI) shortlisted the aforementioned three members after conducting personal interviews to evaluate a total of six applicants.

Incumbent Floyd Reifer and former cricketers Desmond Haynes and Phil Simmons have been named as the three people shortlisted for the role of the West Indies men's cricket team's head coach, CWI confirmed. A total of six candidates had participated in personal interviews, conducted by a CWI panel, which approximately lasted for a duration of 90 minutes before the total count was trimmed down to three.

The panel led by Dr Kishore Shallow, the vice president of CWI, included Jimmy Adams (Director of Cricket), Oneka Martin-Bird (HR Manager), Debra Coryat-Patton (Independent Director) and Gordon Lord (UK-based coaching educator).

"Critical areas discussed were applications of cricket specific experience, technical knowledge, performance planning process, performance measurement, performance-driven culture and also CWI's core values of passion, accountability, respect, integrity and team excellence," stated a release by CWI, reported Cricbuzz.

"I am pleased to see such high-quality West Indian talent and experience in the shortlisted candidates for the Head Coach position," Ricky Skerritt, the CWI president said.

"I believe that any one of the three finalists would be an excellent choice as head coach, and I wish them every success at the final stage of interviews," he added.

CWI have also confirmed that the recruitment process for the hiring of selectors for the West Indies men's team panel, the West Indies women and girls teams panel and the West Indies boys selection panel have already begun. The final interview with the three candidates is set to take place on October 11.
