Lee Min-sung, Albert Roca and two others short-listed for India men’s football coach post

The technical committee of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) has short-listed four candidates for the head coach’s position in the Indian men’s team. The candidates who have been chosen by the committee also includes former South Korean player Lee Min-sung and ex Bengaluru coach Albert Roca.
Indian football’s wait for a head coach will come to an end soon as the technical committee of the AIFF has zeroed down on four names for the position which has been vacant since the exit of Stephen Constantine after India’s AFC Asian Cup campaign in the UAE earlier this year. Lee Min-sung, Albert Roca, ex-Croatia national team manager Igor Stimac and former Sweden coach Hakan Ericson are the four candidates who have been short-listed by the committee.
The committee under the federation which is being headed by former international footballer Shyam Thapa will have a discussion with the four applicants mostly on May 8 or May 9.
"It will again be in the form of interviews on Skype and then the most suitable name will be forwarded to the federation's executive committee with recommendations. The executive committee will take then take the final call," Thapa told PTI.
"We will hold discussions before sitting for the skype interviews. We will also discuss with the AIFF."
The Indian men’s team will play Kings Cup matches on June 5 and June 8 and that will be the first assignment for the new coach. There will be a preparation camp ahead of the tournament as well which will be held under the supervision of the new coach.Â
The full list of applicants also included France's World Cup-winning coach Raymond Domenech, former England managers Sven-Goran Eriksson and Sam Allardyce.Â
