When asked to comment on Shastri's apparent omission, spin legend Muttiah Muralitharan decided to stay away from the controversy and said, "It's all about opinions and everyone has one. Maybe he has missed Ganguly but I can't speak for him,” reported PTI.

Kohli will lead India in three ODIs and three T20I against the touring England side after taking over as skipper in all three formats.
“I have high hopes for Virat as he loves to take challenges and is a terrific batsman,” Muralitharan said.
“This England ODI team and Twenty 20 team is very competitive and totally different from the Test side. Kohli should not take the English team lightly and should always go to Dhoni for advice on the field. It is going to be a tough series for Virat,” he added.
The Sri Lankan applauded India’s move to play spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja in the limited-overs series against England.
“That is a very good move as India will not play any more ODIs until the Champions Trophy in June, so their inclusion will give them an opportunity to test themselves.”
