Sunderland's 10-year stay in the English Premier League came to an end when Josh King scored a late winner for Bournemouth and confirmed the home side's relegation. Meanwhile, Leicester's victory helped them ease their relegation fears and put them 9 points clear of the drop zone.

Bournemouth 1-0 Sunderland

Sunderland suffered a 1-0 defeat at home against Bournemouth that has confirmed their relegation from the top flight of English club football. The home side was stunned by Josh King who struck in the 88th minute and ended the hopes of a fifth successive escape from relegation battle for the Black Cats. There was a glimmer of hope for Sunderland when Southampton were awarded a penalty against Hull but they were denied by Eldin Jakupovic. The Hull side was happy with the goalless draw that put them 13 points clear of Sunderland who has just 12 points to play for. The Stadium of Light resounded with calls for the sacking of David Moyes after the final whistle was blown.

West Bromwich Albion 0-1 Leicester City

Meanwhile, English striker James Vardy struck at the brink of half-time to secure three crucial points for Leicester city against West Brom at the Hawthorns. Vardy capitalised on a Baggies error at the 43rd minute when he struck his 17th goal of the season. The Englishman seems to have found  his goal scoring form and that is going to be pivotal for the Foxes. The win ensured that Leicester city will keep competing in the EPL but extended the Baggies goal drought and losing streak.

Southampton 0-0 Hull City

Hull city pulled off a gritty goalless draw against Southampton that condemned the Sunderland side to relegation and gave a boost to their survival in the top flight. Eldin Jakupovic's palmed away a Dusan Tadic spot kick late in the game to ensure a priceless point for the away side.

Stoke City 0-0 West Ham United

Stoke city and West Ham shared points after their goalless draw. The Potters reached the safe 40-point spot with the point but found no joy in offence when Saido Berahino was denied his first club goal by Winston Reid's fine block coupled with a terrific Adrian save. The match was played under the watchful eye of England manager Gareth Southgate who saw Jack Butland keep his first clean sheet after his return from injury. The Stoke goalkeeper was exceptional when he denied Andrew Ayew and Manuel Lanzini to secure a point for his side.

Crystal Palace 0-2 Burnley

Burnley secured their first away win this season and also their first Premier League victory in London ever after 15 attempts. The away side opened their account eight minutes into the game with a strike from Ashley Barnes and the Burnley keeper Tom Heaton's save ensured the lead stayed in the away side's favour until substitute Andre Gray hit a late second to seal the victory that put the Clarets eight points away from the relegation zone.
