Roger Federer's appearance fees at ATP events revealed

Roger Federer has always featured in the list of the world's highest paid tennis players and between June 2016 and 2017 made a cool $64 million. Federer has a lot of sponsors by his side as well and he charges $2 million to play exhibitions and over $1 million to play ATP 250 and 500 events.

The top players these days keep playing at a good level well into their 30s. Roger Federer, 36, won two Grand Slams this year and again holds a spot on the list of the highest paid tennis players earning $64 million between 2016-17. Even after skipping the whole half of the 2016 season, Federer's sponsors kept backing him.

Further, he signed a five-year contract with pasta producer Barilla in May, via which he will earn $40 million over the next five years.

Wilson, Credit Suisse, Mercedes, Rolex, Lindt, Jura, Moet & Chandon, Sunrise, NetJets and Nike are some of his sponsors who pay him almost $10 million a year, according to Forbes.

However, this $64 million are not a result of just payment from sponsors and prize money. Federer charges more than $2 million to play exhibitions (IPTL in 2014, Laver Cup this year) as his fees and more than $1 million to play ATP 250 and 500 events, TennisWorldUSA reported. Also, he has a lifelong contract with Dubai and Halle and with Basel that finishes in 2019.

But, a lot of the money that Federer earns goes to charity. Created in 2004, the RF Foundation donated $30 million for educational programs in Africa and Federer played two exhibitions in April for his foundation at Zurich and Seattle.
