Batters often end up finding ways to get dismissed, and Jos Buttler was no different in the SA20 game against Joburg Super Kings in Johannesburg. The Durban’s Super Giants batter, in an attempt to scoop over fine leg, ended up inside edging the ball to the point fielder in a soft dismissal.

‌Joburg Super Kings continued their unbeaten run in the SA20 this season with a thrilling super over win against Durban’s Super Giants in Johannesburg. Shubham Ranjane scored an unbeaten half-century in 31 balls, while Donovan Ferreira gave him company with a belligerent 10-ball 33 as the home side put on 205/4 on the board after being put in.

The Super Giants almost nailed the chase before a last-ball runout effected by wicketkeeper Ferreira saw the game get extended to the one-over eliminator. Though Evan Jones (43 off 17) and captain Aiden Markram (37) played crucial knocks in the regulation time, the visitors could not force the deal as they ended up second best in the eliminator.

Though the game was high octane and went close till the very end, Jos Buttler ensured that the comical quotient was never down with a weird dismissal. The batter looked in regal touch as he got off the mark with a stunning inside-out six over extra cover off Akeal Hosein in his very first ball.

With two more boundaries in the first two balls of the next over from Richard Gleeson, the wicketkeeper-batter looked set for a big knock before digging his own grave a ball later. He had already made up his mind to scoop Gleeson over fine leg as he moved across the stumps as the ball was about to be delivered.

The pacer adjusted beautifully to chase the former England skipper, pitching the ball on a hard length outside the off stump. As the ball bounced onto him, Buttler had to take evasive action with the bat and ended up inside edging it perfectly to the point region.

Ranjane made no mistake as the white rock ballooned towards him and completed an easy catch. Gleeson had his revenge as he celebrated wildly with Buttler contemplating how he could get out in this fashion.

Twitter was rolling over the floor laughing as Buttler reminded them of Don Bradman, perfectly middling the edge to end his innings.
