Unfortunate to have not played a single Test against India, says Yasir Shah
Pakistan leg-spinner Yasir Shah has said that it is extremely unfortunate that he's not gotten a chance to play a Test against India and bowl to Virat Kohli in the longest format. The two countries have never played a Test since 2008 and strained political relations have further dented any hopes.
33-year-old Yasir Shah has played 37 Tests for Pakistan and has bagged 207 wickets so far in his Test career. But he still feels that it would have been great had he got a chance to bowl to the likes of Virat Kohli in the longest format and thus he feels that it is unfortunate that he has not got a chance to play a Test match against India.
"It is unfortunate and I feel disappointed when I think about the fact that I have not played a Test against India. Even the white-ball matches have been far and few against them in recent years," Yasir told TOI.
"I would like to play against them because they have some top players and for a leg-spinner it is always enjoyable when you are bowling too or getting wickets of high profile players (like Kohli)," he further added.
Pakistan had last toured India back in 2012 for a short limited-overs tour which comprised 2 T20Is and 3 ODIs but other than that, the two countries have only faced each other in ICC tournaments ever since. As far as the longest format is concerned, the two teams have not played each other since 2008, when Paksitan last toured India.
The 26/11 attacks in Mumbai marked the beginning of strained relations between the two nations and the increasing terror activities meant that the relations between the two nations went from bad to worse. Yasir hopes that someday, the relation between the two countries will improve and he will get a chance to play versus India.
"You feel it at times but it is something beyond the control of players, so we can't do anything. But yes I would love to get a chance to play a Test against them (India) soon," Shah said.
