U Mumba raider Abhishek Singh has said that his performance against Gujarat Fortunegiants was more satisfying as he was able to score against an outstanding defensive unit. U Mumba is currently fourth on the points table and has solidified their position in the top six after yesterday's win.

U Mumba haven’t been the most consistent teams but have seemed to pick up at the right moment. They have won nine out of their 17 matches in the season till now and are at the fourth position on the points table with 53 points. They will almost confirm their spot in the playoffs if they win the next game.

It wasn’t an easy win but U Mumba was the better team of the two and that’s the reason why they won by six points. In yesterday’s match, both the department did well and hence they were able to get to a win. In the raiding department, despite lack of support, Abhishek Singh did brilliantly and scored his fifth super 10 of the season. Apart from him, only four points were scored by the raiding unit.

“The victory is sweeter than the Super 10. Gujarat Fortunegiants have always been an outstanding defensive unit. So, performing well against them is obviously very satisfying. We had planned to play it safe and play on the third raid and being able to execute that is what got us the victory,” Abhishek said in the post-match press conference.

The defence played better than their earlier matches and was a point of difference between the two teams. Gujarat’s defence was able to score only five points whereas Mumba’s defence scored 10. Surinder Singh was the top scorer with four points and he was well-supported by the other cover Harender Kumar who finished the match with three points.

“I would like to congratulate the team on an outstanding game. Through 17 matches, we hadn’t won back-to-back games. But today, finally, we managed to secure two wins on the trot, and I believe Abhishek Singh made the win possible,” assistant coach Upendra Singh asserted.
