WATCH | Sushma Verma denied a run by a blocking Ellyse Perry
Australia women's team pacer Ellyse Perry saved a run for her team when she denied Sushma Verma from completing a run by blocking her way and ensured she got out of the way just in time before being suspected of obstruction. The Indian team eventually finished with a modest 226 runs on the board.
The incident in question took place in the 49th over when Ellyse Perry's good length delivery was heaved towards the deep backward square by Sushma Verma. The ball seemed to be going over the boundary line but Nicole Bolton's well-timed jump ensured that the Indian team's score does not go up by six runs.
Meanwhile, Sushma Verma was eyeing two runs and quickly ran towards the non-striker's end, but she was interrupted by Perry who was engrossed in looking at the fielder just before Verma could complete her run. Verma tried to signal her to get out of her way by a pat on her back, but Perry was too late to react which resulted in Verma returning back to the striker's end, without completing the run on being called on by Shikha Pandey who had no idea of what was going at the other end.

India failed to accelerate their innings towards the end, despite starting strongly with 164-1 on the board at the end of 40 overs, but managed to put just 226 runs in the end which could still prove to be enough on a slow Bristol wicket.
