Indian cricket schedule for the year 2017
With Virat Kohli taking up the captaincy across all formats, India will embark on a busy journey in 2017 with the Champions Trophy title defence as its prime goal. While the first half of the year will be in the comforts of home, June to September will be the real test for India with 3 away series.
After enjoying a stupendous 2016 where they went undefeated in Test cricket under skipper Virat Kohli, the Indian cricket team
Before they host Australia in a four-match Test series, starting in late February, Kohli's men will play Bangladesh in a solitary Test at Hyderabad from Feb 8 to Feb 12. While it will be difficult to predict the outcome of the Test series against the Aussies, the momentum India
International cricket will take a back seat once the 10th edition of the IPL kicks off on April 5 with the player auction set to take place on February 4 at Bengaluru. But India's biggest test of the year and Kohli's defining moment as a captain will come when they travel to the UK to defend their Champions Trophy crown in June.
Two back-to-back away series to West Indies and Sri Lanka have been scheduled from July to September which could lead to game fatigue in the Indian ranks when Australia return to the sub-continent in October for a limited-overs series. But the biggest question lingers over the officially-recognized series against arch-rivals Pakistan which includes playing 3 Tests, 5 ODIs and 2 T20Is at home. Given the political tension between the two countries, the series might be scrapped and replaced with a series against Zimbabwe, which is the only nation without any scheduled matches during December.
