Abhishek Porel is a budding young 20-year-old Indian wicketkeeper-batsman. A boy from a very small town in West Bengal with big dreams of being a professional cricketer and who has made them come true to a huge extent with his hard work and determination. He belongs to a lower-middle-class family in a small town, Chandannagar of West Bengal. Being a son of a farmer Chandranath Porel, playing cricket was such a luxury dream for him. But Abhishek grew a keen interest in cricket from his early school days. Noticing his passion and interest in the game, his father took him to a local cricket coaching ground close to his home. There he made acquaintance with his coach and mentor Bibhas Das. He is the one who made Porel believe that he is capable enough to pull off the game and also encouraged him to be a keeper batsman.

After a long hustle in practice, he finally got his hand on the First class debut as a part of the Bengal team about a year ago on February 22, 2022, against Baroda. Later on, in the same year, he also made his List A debut on November 17, 2022, against Puducherry. Before his List A debut, he had already played domestic T20 matches since October 14. His first domestic T20 was against Odisha. This 2022 proved to be a dream year for his cricketing career and was also a great chance for him to be ready for the national team by delivering desired performances in such games.

Not long after this, he was also picked up by the IPL franchise, Delhi Capitals for 20 lakh in the 2023 season. He played his first IPL match in the same season as well.
