Scott Styris leaves commentary box after Jadhav claims wicket

New Zealand made a great start against the hosts with both their openers getting off to good starts before Martin Guptill was sent back by Umesh Yadav for a score of 27. However, Tom Latham and Kane Williamson continued the run flow reaching 64 in just 10 overs.

With New Zealand piling on the pressure, Dhoni introduced spin in the form of Jadhav. It was then that Styris made the claim that the 31-year-old would not be able to collect a single scalp.

“I will walk out of the commentary box, and take the first flight to New Zealand if Jadhav takes a wicket today,” Styris claimed on live TV.

So when Jadhav caught Williamson plumb in front of his stumps, Styris quickly removed the microphone and made his way out of the commentary box.

As a result of this, Styris wasn’t there when Jadhav sent Latham and Anderson back to the pavilion as well eventually ending the innings with figures of 3-29.

The 41-year-old, however, showed his humorous side on Twitter when he was asked by a fan about his whereabouts. Styris replied that he was in hiding after the humiliating event.
