Have you ever seen a player getting to a milestone in an international game but not being applauded by his/her own teammates after achieving that? Something similar happened with Rishabh Pant when he got to his maiden T20I fifty against the Windies during the third game of the series in Chennai.

Pant and Shikhar Dhawan stitched together a partnership worth 130 runs and took India to a comfortable position in the third and final match of the T20I series against the Windies at home. India was chasing a huge target of 182 runs and both the Delhi batsmen were in the middle after the home side was reduced to 45/2. Dhawan had already completed his fifty and Pant was on 47 at the beginning of the 16th over when something strange happened in the dug-out.

Facing Kemo Paul in the 16th over, Pant went for a ramp shot with a fielder at deep fine leg in place. He shuffled across the wicket and tried to go for the scoop, the fielder in the deep ran in to get to the ball and even tried putting in the dive. He failed to collect it and the ball went into the fence for a four giving Pant a moment to cherish as he got to his maiden fifty in T20Is. However, the Indian players and support staff sitting in the dug-out, presumably assumed that the catch was taken, and sat there with blank expressions on their faces. It was a good few seconds, and Rishabh Pant raising his bat, before they realized that the youngster had got to his fifty and then stood up to applause the effort of the 21-year-old.
