When it’s not your day, its just not your day, that’s what the Karnataka players must be feeling after the events that unfolded in their semi-final match against Saurashtra. Cheteshwar Pujara escaped a dismissal on two occasions which led to an altercation between the umpire and Vinay Kumar.

Saurashtra require 55 runs to win at the end of day four of their ongoing semi-final encounter against Karnataka at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on Sunday. Saurashtra had star India Test team batsman, Cheteshwar Pujara, to thank as he remained unbeaten on 108 against Manish Pandey & Co.

However, things could have been much different for Pujara who was lucky enough to escape a dismissal on two occasions, one in the first innings, the next time off a Vinay Kumar delivery in the second innings. Pujara managed to score 45 in the first innings before he gloved an Abhimanyu Mithun delivery. However, Mithun was earlier left shocked as the umpire did not raise his finger after his cracker of a delivery got the ball to shape away late and caught Pujara's glove on its way.

Pujara, who starred for India in their recent Test series win against Australia down under, was given a second lifeline in the second innings as a similar incident occurred, but this time the bowler was former India pacer Vinay Kumar. Pujara got a faint nick in the 24th over after which Kumar and his teammates began celebrating what they thought was the crucial wicket of the Saurashtra dangerman.

However, to their utter shock, the umpire did not react at all and kept his finger down. Pujara also stood his ground and acted as though nothing happened at all. Kumar & Co. were left fuming as Pujara stayed on the crease. This one is sure to cause some controversy on the domestic circuit.
