Nigel Llong will still continue with his umpiring duties in the IPL final despite the spat with Virat Kohli in the encounter between RCB and SRH on May 4. Llong had wrongly called one of Umesh Yadav’s delivery as a no-ball and the umpire was furious after the skipper lodged his dissatisfaction.

In the final over of the Indian Premier League encounter between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad, Nigel Llong had erroneously called Umesh Yadav for overstepping despite the fact that his foot was well within the crease. Umesh approached the umpire to complain but got a stern reply, in the form of 'My call' from him. He seemed even more furious after skipper Virat Kohli lodged his protests. The English umpire stormed off the field and reportedly, even kicked and damaged the door to the umpires' room.

As per the PTI reports, the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) is unlikely to take any strict action against him and he will be let off after an explanation. The ICC Elite Panel official will also continue with his services as an umpire in the finals of the league scheduled on May 12 in Hyderabad.

The Karnataka State Cricket Association secretary R Sudhakar Rao had demanded action against the former first-class cricketer despite the fact that he had paid Rs.5000 for the damages caused.

"We have reported the matter to the Committee of Administrators (COA) and hopefully action will be taken against Nigel Llong. If the players are punished for their misdemeanour and fined their match fees then why not the umpires," said Rao, reported PTI.

"I didn't speak to umpire Llong but I spoke to match referee Narayanan Kutty. I am hopeful COA will take action," he added.

Llong has umpired in 56 Tests, 123 ODIs and 32 T20Is and will also be an umpire in the upcoming World Cup in England and Wales, starting May 30.
