Harsha Bhogle has announced the best eleven Test format players of the year 2018 picking the best performers across all Test playing nations. Indian skipper Virat Kohli and fast-bowler Jasprit Bumrah are the only two Indians who were picked by Bhogle for their performances in the calendar year.

A best playing eleven for the year 2018 was picked by Harsha Bhogle in which he picked the best performing players from all the Test playing nations and made a fiery eleven with the likes of Indian skipper Virat Kohli and New Zealand player Kane Williamson in the team. He made the team public on Cricbuzz.

Bhogle said that there were not many options for the openers’ role as the year was a very poor one in view of the opening partnerships. Kiwi player Tom Latham was his best pick with 658 runs from seven Tests at an average of 59.81. Latham also had two centuries and equal number half-centuries in those matches. The other opener that the commentator picked was Sri Lankan Dimuth Karunaratne who made 743 runs from nine matches in the year.

Kane Williamson and Virat Kohli picked themselves with outstanding performances in all playing conditions throughout the year. Then he picked now retired South African all-rounder AB De Villiers who made 638 runs in seven Test before he retired. For the role of the wicket-keeper batsman, Bhogle selected Englishman wicketkeeper Jos Buttler, who plays as a specialist batsman in England team doing the glovework only on rare occasions.

For the role of the lone all-rounder Jason Holder was favoured ahead of Ben Stokes. The four bowlers in the team were off-spinner Nathan Lyon playing as the lone spinner along with India’s Jasprit Bumrah, Pakistan’s Mohammad Abbas and Pat Cummins.
