Time and again the umpiring decision has always triggered intensified debates in the cricketing world. Yet another occurrence was spotted when Rohan Pandit’s not-out decision on a Travis Head run-out sparked discussions as Sunrisers Hyderabad squared off against Rajasthan Royals in Hyderabad.

After a loss in a chase in their last game, the Hyderabad-based side elected to bat first against Rajasthan. However, the decision backfired for a while as RR bowlers struck with a couple of wickets inside the powerplay before Travis Head and Nitish Kumar Reddy steadied the ship to set up a fighting total. However, an incident that gained eyeballs revolved around the TV umpire’s bizarre decision to give Head not out.

On the second ball of the 15th over, Travis Head went for a slash square of the wicket on the off side as Avesh Khan bowled full and wide outside the stumps. While Head missed on a connection, he strolled outside the crease casually before instinctively trying to get back in on seeing Sanju Samson aim for a direct hit. The TV umpire checked and felt that there the bat was inside the crease just on time but the broadcasters and the RR dugout felt that Head’s willow was still in the air whilst the stumps were broken.

Although the Aussie survived a bizarre run out due to his casual approach, he fell prey to Avesh in the next ball as he tried to shuffle across the line at a widish fuller delivery to watch the ball ricochet off the bat to the stumps.

The wicket calmed down the RR dugout where Kumar Sangakkara and co. were seen having a discussion with the match referee, thereby sending the Twitterverse berserk.
