After Trent Boult's sufferings due to KKR's fielding errors in the opening games, it was Nathan Coulter-Nile's turn to be denied by the KKR players. In a bizarre over, the Aussie saw two catches go down and the bails refusing to be displaced even after the wicket was clipped by the ball.

Having conceded 17 runs and claimed 2 wickets in this first 3Ā overs, Coulter-Nile was having a pretty good day at the office. The Aussie was handed the responsibility of bowling the penultimate over of the match, where he would square off against the in-form Rishabh Pant, who had already scored 38 runs off just 15 balls. It was the Aussie who came out on top in the battle dismissing the teenager off his first delivery.Ā

However, what followed was a bizarre few balls where the 29-year-old Aussie was left shaking his head in disbelief. With just 10 balls left in the innings, Chris Morris decided to go after the Aussie but his mistimed shot appeared to be headed straight into the hands of Umesh Yadav at long on. The pacer, however, fluffed his lines as the ball bounced off his hands and Morris was given another life. KKR captain Gautam Gambhir could not believe what he was seeing and his expression said it all.Ā

2Ā balls later, though, it was Gambhir who could not find a place to hide in the Kotla. After Cummins had returned the strike to Morris, the South African had another go at Coulter-Nile but ended up slashing the ball, outside off stump, straight at the KKR captain. Somehow, Gambhir managed to drop a sitter that even Munaf Patel could have taken with his eyes closed.

But we weren't done yet. WhenĀ Cummins took the strike, he too decided to have a go at Coulter-Nile. Like Morris, the Aussie failed to pick up his compatriot's variation and was well beaten. What was remarkable was that, once the ball had passed the bat there was a definite noise before it made it to Uthappa behind the stumps. Replays suggested that the ball had clipped the wicket but the bail had not been dislodged. In a world whereĀ Kolkata players could actually hold on to theĀ ball, Coulter-Nile would have ended up with at least fiveĀ wickets but in reality he finished with figures of 3/22.
