Australian spin duo of Nathan Lyon and Steve O'Keefe have approached Daniel Vettori and Rangana Herath for advice on how to bowl in the subcontinent ahead of their much-awaited India Test tour. Australia also roped in Monty Panesar to assist their spinners ahead of the four-match series.

Kiwi Vettori and Sri Lanka's Herath have taken over 700 Test wickets between them and have been very successful in the subcontinent. Herath was instrumental in Sri Lanka's win over Australia at home last year,

"The main things you get away from those guys (Vettori and Herath) is challenging the batter’s defence," O’Keefe told Cricket Australia. "(India) are a class team, they’re exceptional batters at home and it’s going to be a big job."

O'Keefe has been working with former England international Panesar in Brisbane. Panesar played a big role in England's Test series win in India in 2012.

"He (Panesar) talked about being able to adapt really quickly and on the spot and also being able to take away the batter’s scoring options in regards to boundaries," O'Keefe said.

Australia will face an uphill task against top-ranked India who beat New Zealand and England in consecutive Test series at home. The first Test will start on Feb 23 in Pune.
