Ravi Shastri made a smart comeback in reply to Australian commentator Kerry O’Keefe’s insensitive comments that were aimed towards Indian debutant - Mayank Agarwal. The Indian opener scored a brilliant 76 at the MCG to help the visitors to a commanding total of 443/7 at the end of day two.

Former Australian cricketer Kerry O'Keeffe, who acts as a part-time commentator for Fox Sports, had earlier apologised for his uncharitable comments aimed at Indian batsman Mayank Agarwal. While commentating during the ongoing Boxing Day Test in Melbourne, O’Keefe was quoted as saying that Agarwal's maiden first-class triple-century came against "Railways canteen staff".

However, Indian chief coach Ravi Shastri had an interesting reply to O’Keefe as the former hit back at the Australian saying that Agarwal now wants a smell of the canteens in Australia.

“When you open your canteen, he wants to come and smell the coffee. And he wants to compare it with the ones back in India … whether the coffee here is better, or should he order from back home,” Shastri said on a Fox Sports show.

The Aussie veteran was left bemused by Shastri’s smart comments. However, veteran spinner Shane Warne certainly found the Indian coach’s comments hilarious as he burst out laughing on the show. Shastri went on to praise the debutant for his performance, who scored a half century in his maiden innings

“Let’s not take it from . could have easily been three down for 80 and it would have been a different ball game. He dug deep and he’s got a message for Kerry – when you do open your canteen, he wants to come and smell the coffee.

“And he wants to compare it to the ones back home in India. Is the coffee better here in your canteen, or the one back home?,” Shastri added.
