Vijay Hazare Trophy Round-up | Bihar thrash Sikkim by record 292 runs in Plate Group

Bihar registered the biggest win in terms of runs in the history of Vijay Hazare Trophy limited-overs tournament as they thrashed Sikkim by 292 runs in the plate group encounter. Uttarakhand and Nagaland also registered comfortable wins against Meghalaya and Manipur respectively.

Bihar vs Sikkim

Brief scores: Bihar 338/6 in 50 overs (MD Rahmat Ullah 152; Bhusan Subba 2-63) beat Sikkim 46 in 31 overs (PB Limboo 12; Keshav Kumar 3-7) by 292 runs.

Bihar’s return to Indian domestic cricket continues to provide a feel-good story as today they secured the biggest win in terms of runs in the history of Vijay Hazare Trophy tournament. Bihar got the better of Sikkim by 292 runs which overcame the Baroda win by 279 runs against Assam. MD Rahmatullah scored 152 runs off 103 ball before retiring hurt while Babul Kumar scored 92 as Bihar posted 338 for 6. After the stunning assault, it didn't take Sikkim too long to fold out as they managed to score a paltry 46 in 31 overs with just two batsmen touching double digit figures. 

Meghalaya vs Uttarakhand

Brief scores: Meghalaya 141 in 41.2 overs (Yogesh Nagar 44; Vaibhav Bhatt 3-9) lost to Uttarakhand 143/2 in 31 overs (Vineet Saxena 66*; Gurinder Singh 2-34) by 8 wickets

Despite the valiant fight by Yogesh Nagar and Gurinder Singh, Meghalaya couldn’t find a way out against Uttarakhand and slipped to an eight-wicket loss after posting just 141 in 41.2 overs. The team, at one point in the game, were reduced to 63 for 5, but the duo did well to drag the side to 129 before the lower order failed to contribute. Vaibhav Bhatt ended with figures of 5-1-9-3 before Vineet Saxena scored unbeaten 66 to help the team to a win.

Manipur vs Nagaland

Brief scores: Manipur 144 in 43.4 overs (Yashpal Singh 41; Abrar Kazi 2-13) lost to Nagaland 147/1 in 34.2 overs (Sedezhalie Rupero 52*; BS Konthoujam 1-40) by 9 wickets

Nagaland played out yet another one-sided contest as they trounced the opposition by nine wickets after chasing down 144 inside 35 overs. Yashpal Singh was once again the star for Manipur as he was the only batsman to score above 41 while the other batsmen continued their poor run. For Nagaland, Nitesh Lochab scored 41 runs while Sedezhalie Rupero remained unbeaten on 52 to help Nagaland get a solid start with a stand of 62 runs for the opening wicket before the former fell. KB Pawan joined Rupero to score an unbeaten 50 and eventually took the team down the line.
