After the victory against Chinese Taipei at the opening game of the intercontinental cup, skipper Sunil Chetri has admitted that he doesn't believe in vigorous celebrations. However, Chetri went on to say that he would celebrate wildly if he scores against Bahrain in the upcoming Asian games.

India's 5-0 demolition of the Chinese Taipei side at the Mumbai Football Arena on Friday saw Sunil Chhetri getting his third career hat-trick for the Blue Tigers, which took his international cap tally to 99 and goal tally to 59. All the three goals were sublime and extravagant in their own way but skipper Chhetri didn't show any over the top celebrations whatsoever. After the game, Chhetri admitted that he doesn't like outrageous celebrations.

"I am very happy when I score. I do not take it for granted. I am very fortunate to score so many goals for my club and country. I am very happy from inside. It's just that I don't celebrate outrageously like Robin Singh," Chetri said.

With eight months to go for the AFC Asian Cup, the Intercontinental Cup has been viewed as a groveling practice session in improving the team's physical and strategic accomplishments. Even though India ranked top among the four contending nations (97th), Chinese Taipei, New Zealand and Kenya are expected to provide India with their individual exclusive challenges.

Chetri also admitted that celebrations might be called depending upon the magnitude of the occasion citing the example of if he would score against Bahrain at the AFC Asian Cup.

"A goal at the Asian games, at the Asian cup, a goal that might help us qualify against Bahrain are goals that might rouse more wild celebrations. I will jump and hug and shout and come and hug somebody," the skipper said.

Jeje Lalpekhlua was in many ways the lynchpin for India's win last evening with the Chennayin FC striker pulling strings from just behind the striker, and Chhetri also acknowledged that he has always shared a very cordial relation with Jeje Lalpekhlua, who set up the first two goals for Chetri during the game.

"We have played many games together. He(Jeje) is supremely talented. He is very experienced, knowledgeable and works so hard on his game. He is somebody who I respect a lor and is one of our best players," Chhetri praised the forward from Mizoram.
