East Bengal have moved swiftly to bolster their backline by adding former Delhi Dynamos defender - Marti Crespi - to their roster ahead of the upcoming domestic season. Crespi played a total of 15 matches for the Dynamos outfit last season as they finished a disappointing eighth in the ISL.

Marti Crespi has been revealed as the latest addition to the East Bengal back-four ahead of the upcoming 2019 domestic season. On Wednesday, Crespi was confirmed to have made the switch from Delhi to Bengal. He was a member of the Spanish U-19 and U-20 teams in 2006-07 and played 15 matches for the Dynamos in their disappointing eighth place finish last season.

The 32-year-old defender began his professional career with Mallorca in 2006-07 before switching to Segunda clubs Granada, Xerez and Elche on loan. The Spanish native also played for Spanish top division club Racing Santander in 2013, before departing for Sabadell FC where he made 54 appearances in Segunda B. Crespi also enjoyed spells in China where he represented Qingdao Huanghai (57 appearances) and Nei Mongol Zhongyou (three appearances).Ā

East Bengal ended the 2018 I-League season as runners-up and are hoping to ply their trade in the Indian Super League in the 2019 season.
