VIDEO | Entire Indian team walks back in dejection after wasting yet another early review
Virat Kohli getting carried away by his players is not a new thing anymore, but today, the Indian skipper has had a valid reason to feel dejected after India lost the review. MS Dhoni appealed loudly for a wicket and even convinced Kohli to go for DRS, only to see that there was no nick off the bat.
India have been acquiring a very bad history of sorts as far as DRS is concerned as their overdependence on MS Dhoni seems to backfire at times of need. That, in turn, resulted in India losing many reviews lately and worryingly, very early in the innings. And today was yet another day where India’s review went on a wrong direction and that too only in the fourth over of the Windies innings.
While Bumrah nipped a ball back sharply, Kieron Powell brought his bat down late and sneaked through to scrap the back pad. However, he failed to get any connection as the ball went to MS Dhoni’s gloves. Both Dhoni and Bumrah appealed for the dismissal heavily, but the umpire turned it down, saying there was no sound.
However, Dhoni was adamant that he heard a sound and convinced Kohli to go upstairs for the review. Although UltraEdge showed a spike, that was actually from the ball clipping the back pad and third umpire ruled it as not out. When the decision was flashed on the screen, it made the Indian skipper upset and the entire team went back from there position, sporting a dejected look.
