Rohit Sharma will add another record to his T20 International merit list when he will take the field for the second T20I against Australia in Bengaluru. Jasprit Bumrah is also expected to achieve a new record to become the highest wicket-taker for India in the shortest format of the game.

Rohit Sharma is all set to join MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina to become the third Indian to play 300 T20 matches across international, domestic and IPL matches. Overall, there are only 14 cricketers across the world to have featured in 300 or more T20 matches with Sharma’s Mumbai Indians’ fellow player Kieron Pollard topping the charts with 451 appearances to his name.

Rohit Sharma is also behind New Zealand’s Martin Guptill and West Indies’ Chris Gayle, needing just two more sixes to surpass the openers to become the batsman with the most number of sixes in T20I. The Mumbai Indians skipper now has 102 sixes under his cap while Guptill and Gayle have 103 sixes to their name. The Indian opener shares a unique record with Dhoni, in the most number of sixes for team India with 215 sixes each.

Meanwhile, the star for team India in the first T20 match against Australia, Jasprit Bumrah has become the second Indian bowler to reach 50 wickets in T20I. He is behind Ravichandran Ashwin, who has 52 wickets to his name and Bumrah needs 2 more wickets to become the highest wicket-taker for India in this format, reported the Hindustan Times.
