Opinions are divided whenever it comes to the Mankad dismissal and it was no different when R Ashwin decided to Mankad Jos Buttler in the RR-KXIP game. Ashwin and Buttler were seen having a verbal duel that the former justified by saying that the Englishman was disturbing his rhythm.

Ravichandran Ashwin is always a pumped up cricketer in the IPL and smart enough to understand any situation quickly. He did that in the match against Rajasthan Royals when he saw Jos Buttler was backing too far from the stumps, which created a rather new controversy in the IPL.

While being on the follow through to bowl the last delivery of the 13th over, Ashwin saw that Buttler had moved a bit far from the stumps. Sensing that as an opportunity to send the Royals opener packing, he paused before the delivery stride and took the bails off. Buttler was completely stumped by that decision and gestured to have a small discussion with the Kings XI Punjab skipper, but the latter was in no mood to have one.

Ashwin harshly replied, “You are not in the crease and you've been upsetting my rhythm”. While in the first look, it seemed like Buttler was at fault, in the replay, it showed that Ashwin purposefully slowed down and waited for Buttler to go out of the crease. Whatever that was, the third umpire checked the replay and signalled Buttler out.
