After winning a low-scoring thriller, Patna Pirates coach Ram Mehar Singh has said that he will be tensed until Pradeep Narwal starts performing irrespective of the fact whether they are winning or losing. He also talked about the performance of their substitute player Monu and his contribution.

Patna Pirates gained an edge on their opponents Tamil Thalavias when there were few minutes left on the clock in their last game of the league on Monday. They then carried that momentum to win a low-scoring match. The highest scorer of this match was Jaideep who scored seven tackle points. Both the teams were accurate with their defensive strategies hence it was a defenders match. Patna Pirates' skipper Pradeep Narwal could only manage to score one point in the entire match.

“Our defence is playing very well and if our Tiger (Pardeep Narwal) can also perform well, then I won’t have any tension. He’s been the best raider in the league for the last five seasons, but until he performs well, I’ll be a bit tensed irrespective of whether we’re winning or losing,” Ram Mehar Singh said in the post-match press conference.

Tamil’s raiders didn’t contribute much to their side and the highest scorer for them was Rahul Chaudhari with five points. Patna Pirates defenders were persistent as they managed to deflect the all-out attempts by the Thalaivas. They scored a total of 13 points as compared to Tamil’s 10 points. Patna would be happy with this win as they gained momentum from this ahead of the Patna leg.

“First and foremost, I’d like to say that Season 7 is shaping up to be the toughest season yet. There are no sides that are dominating at the moment. With the exception of maybe one or two games, the rest of the matches have all been tight. If our offence, in particular Pardeep, clicks and our defence keeps performing like they are, we should do well in our home leg,” Patna Pirates coach explained.

“Jaideep is a very good Corner defender. He was carrying a few injuries from last season, so it will take time for him to be back to his best. He will get even better after playing a few more games. He’s played well for us in the past and I hope he can do well for us in the future,” Ram Mehar Singh said.

The unexpected hero of the match was undoubtedly Monu, who was substituted in the middle of the game, he scored five points for his team and two of them were for a Super Tackle and three for touch points in raiding.

“For me the turning point of the game came courtesy of our substitute Monu, who did well both while raiding and defending. He performed well in crucial situations. After we brought him on, he scored points at pivotal moments. So, bringing him on was crucial,” Ram Mehar signed off.
