After his brilliant performance against RPS, where he got three stumpings, Robin Uthappa almost convinced some fans that he could be a reliable in the position. However, against Hyderabad today, he was back to his "very best" as he gifted Shikhar Dhawan two lives in as many overs.

Hyderabad got off to a perfect start through the left-handed opening duo of David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan against Kolkata, as they scored an incredible 67 runs in the first five overs. Sensing the need for wickets, Gautam Gambhir brought in Kuldeep Yadav to get a breakthrough. After being hit for a boundary on the first ball, Kuldeep bowled a beautiful googly, on seeing Shikhar Dhawan come down the track.

The Hyderabad batsman was beaten by the flight and spin of the ball but just as Kuldeep would have thought he got his man, Uthappa showcased his ability to mess up easy chances. The KKR keeper, too, missed the googly and failed to collect the ball cleanly. Dhawan, who had given up on getting back, turned around and made his crease comfortably.

But the Uthappa show wasn't done yet as in the very next over, the other Yadav, Umesh,  bowled a delivery on Dhawan's pads and the ball deflected and looked like going for a boundary. But Uthappa put in a brilliant dive to stop the boundary. Dhawan was already halfway down the pitch by then but was sent back by David Warner. Uthappa took his right-hand glove off and tried to have a shot at the stumps. The problem? He failed tow collect the ball on two occasions.

While his batting contributions have been invaluable this season, Uthappa's performance behind the stumps might be the only chink in KKR's armor if they want to regain the coveted trophy.
