Am on good terms with Australians except "a couple" of them, says Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli has clarified that his comments on Australian cricketers in the press conference has been blown out of proportion and that he was referring to only a couple of individuals. He also mentioned that he continues to be on good terms with his Australian RCB mates and that won’t change.

Although the recently concluded series between India and Australia had all the ingredients of a classic Test series, unfortunately it would be remembered for the verbal duels between the players and board officials- both on and off the field. So, while Kohli was responding to a specific query if he is still on friendly terms with Australian cricketers, he said, “No, it has changed. I thought that was the case, but it has changed for sure. As I said, in the heat of the battle, you want to be competitive but I’ve been proven wrong. The thing I said before the first Test, that has certainly changed and you won’t hear me say that ever again.”

That led to a lot of speculation about relations between the cricketers from the top two teams in the world.

But two days after the event, Kohli took to Twitter and clarified his statement and said that he remained on good terms with his teammates at Royal Challengers Bangalore. 

“My answer at the post match conference has been blown way out of proportion,” Kohli tweeted today (March 30). 

“I did not categorically say the whole Australian team but only a couple of individuals. I continue to be in good terms with the few guys I know and who I’ve played with at RCB and that doesn’t change.”

Kohli’s clarification has come after some former Australian cricketers including Mark Taylor and Dean Jones cautioned him against holding grudges towards Australian players.
