ICC World Cup 2019 | Rain continues to haunt India’s campaign

The incessant rains are taking the sheen away from the tournament and has hampered India’s campaign massively in the ongoing World Cup. After India’s game against New Zealand was washed out, their practice sessions prior to Afghanistan game were also affected by the rains.

This edition of the World Cup has been heavily affected by rain and as many as four matches have resulted in a washout including the high-voltage game between India and New Zealand. So far, India have only played four games, winning three and are all set to lock horns with Afghanistan on Saturday in Southampton.

However, tomorrow’s game is still dicey as India’s practice sessions were highly affected by the rains on Wednesday and Thursday. Although the forecast was in favour of some cricket, the rains still managed to mark their presence as India have ruled out the possibility of any practice session on Friday. India have their hopes pinned on this encounter and would eye to climb up the batting order against the winless Afghanistan.

India are without the services of Shikhar Dhawan and to add to their woes. However, Vijay Shankar, who suffered a toe injury in the nets, has been cleared for the game. It will be interesting to see if the rain continue to haunt India in a game, which they should, in all probability, win.
