Delhi Dynamos coach Josep Gombau has stated that his team have to stop making silly errors and need to stop giving away easy balls to the opposition. It has not been the best of the starts for the Delhi Dynamos’ franchise this season as from six games they have played they are yet to register a win.

For 81 minutes, no goals were scored in the match between Delhi Dynamos and North East United FC and then at the full time whistle, Dynamos lost the match 0-2. The two goals against the Dynamos came in the 82nd minute and in the extra time which cost them the match. The coach seemed unhappy about how the match panned out in the last few minutes and asserted that his men need to stop giving “easy balls”.

“We need to stop giving away these easy balls. Last game, two goals came because of our mistakes, not from chances that they created. We conceded goals on 82 and 90 minutes. The first goal came after we try to just clear and created space for them near our goal, which was a big mistake. And after that, the second goal is another mistake that we make. We ruined the game in terms of these mistakes. NorthEast played well and they have these chances to score and also we have few chances to score. But in the end, this game was decided by our mistakes,” Gombau said after the game.

With this loss, Delhi Dynamos now have three points from six games and are stranded at the eighth position on the points table. Though it is theoretically still possible to make to the top four for the Dynamos, it would be an uphill task for them. Gombau, too, asserted that they are just two wins away from a top four spot and it is definitely possible.

“Look, if the numbers are there, we need to fight, and we need to try to be in the top four. We have to have this conviction. If you see, it’s not that far away. Six points gap which is two games. So, why not? We’re going to try our best and work hard,” he stated.

After the loss, Gambau would be looking to get a better combination into the play on Sunday in the match against Jamshedpur FC who sit at a comfortable third position with ten points. The match will take place at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi.

“Look, if I make changes, it’s not for the results. It’s more because we’re playing a lot of games. We have one game on Thursday again in Goa. Yeah, probably we will bring some new additions to the team. I am satisfied with the players. I think everybody is giving 100%.”

The Jamshedpur FC won their last encounter against FC Goa and won that match comfortably 4-1. Acknowledging the wonderful show by his opposition Gambau praised them that they won against a good opposition.

“I saw their game and they played fantastic. They played very well. And they played against a very good side which is Goa. They play good football, scored four goals. From the very beginning, they showed they want to win the game. Every game is different. I hope tomorrow we can play well, and we can beat them,” he said.
