TNCA officials claim they informed BCCI secretary Amitabh Chaudhary about TNPL-3
Tamil Nadu Cricket Association officials have revealed that they had informer BCCI acting secretary Amitabh Chaudhary about their plans to host the third edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League. However, Supreme Court-appointed CoA said that they were not informed about any plans of hosting it.
The never-ending war between the BCCI and the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators showed no signs of slowing down as the latter wrote a letter to the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association with respect to the hosting of the third edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League. The CoA had earlier warned the TNCA of grave consequences for allowing outstation players to feature in the TNPL-3 and also asked the latter to ask for a formal permission from BCCI authorities with regards to the hosting of the tournament.
“The Committee has called upon the TNCA to seek approval from the BCCI to conduct the 3rd edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (the “TNPL”) and also to confirm that the League will not field players from outside the jurisdiction of the TNCA failing which disciplinary action will be initiated against all parties concerned,” the CoA letter read, reported TOI.
But a top TNCA official was quoted saying that the South Indian cricketing body had already informed BCCI acting secretary Amitabh Chaudhary of their plans to host the tournament this year.
“We had sent a mail to Choudhary, seeking permission to conduct the tournament. We forwarded that mail and all the documents to the CoA today. We also emphasized
With respect to the right to host domestic tournaments, the TNCA also spoke about how the BCCI constitution permitted the state units to organize and host such tournaments in order to develop local talent. The TNCA also reminded the governing body of how outstation players from the yesteryears had also taken part in various tournaments organized by them which included the Buchi Babu tournament.
“The Regulations of the BCCI provide that Members of BCCI are not required to seek approval for conducting tournaments within its territorial jurisdiction unless the tournament involves players from outside such Jurisdiction. As such, there cannot be any manner of doubt that is no question of seeking approval of the BCCI for tournaments conducted by Members where only players from within its jurisdiction are participating,” the letter from the TNCA to the CoA read.
