Austaralian women’s umpire Claire Polosak will be the first woman to stand in men’s ODI when she takes the field on Saturday. Polosak has rendered her services as an umpire in 16 ODIs after debuting in November 2016 in a game between South Africa and Asutralia.

History will be scripted when Australia’s Claire Polosak will become the first woman umpire to officiate in a men’s ODI game during the scheduled final of the ICC World Cricket League Division 2 on Saturday.

Polosak has officiated in 15 women’s ODIs and has been a part of some high-voltage encounters including the semifinal of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2018 between England and India. Polosak also took the field in four games of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017.

Polosak has a knack of scripting history as she was also the first woman to officiate in an Australia’s men’s domestic fixture in her first List A match in 2017.

During the BBL encounter between Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Stars, Polosak and Eloise Sheridan became the first female umpires to officiate on-field together during a professional match in Australia.

Polosak was enthusiastic on achieving such an outstanding feat and said, “I am thrilled to be the first woman to stand in a men’s ODI and how far I have come as an umpire.

“It really is important to promote women umpires and there’s no reason why females can’t umpire in cricket. It’s about breaking down barriers, creating awareness so more females can come into the role,” she added.
