Cricket South Africa (CSA) have announced that they have parted ways with head coach Ottis Gibson, who has been associated with the team since 2017. Furthermore, they have also announced a major revamp in their management structure, with them set to appoint a team manager and a Director of Cricket.

Former West Indian pacer Ottis Gibson, who has been the head coach of the South African cricket team since 2017, will no longer be associated with the team, as confirmed by Cricket South Africa (CSA). The decision comes on the back of South Africa's disappointing World Cup campaign, which saw them crash out in the group stages, picking up just three victories throughout the entirety of the tournament.

Mohammad Moosajee, the joint team manager and team doctor, will also be no longer associated with the South African national cricket team after he communicated to the board to not renew his contract, which is set to expire come September.

CSA have also decided to revamp the entire management structure, shifting to a hierarchy of sorts. The structure consists of a Chief Executive at a very top, followed by a Director of Cricket, who will have a team manager working under him. The team manager is set to appoint personnel for the vacant posts left by Gibson and Mossajee, and will also take overall charge of all aspects of the team, including the appointment of the coaching staff, captain, the medical and administrative staff.

Cricket Pathways is set to serve as the acting Director of Cricket until a new one is appointed. An interim management team, selection panel and captain for the tour of India will be appointed by van Zyl and Chief Executive Thabang Moroe. CSA will advertise the positions of Director of Cricket, Team Manager and convenor of selectors.

"This change will herald an exciting new era for the SA cricket and will bring us into line with best practice in professional sport," Moroe was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

"I must stress that the new structure was not a rash decision. It was taken after much deliberation by the Board, taking all the factors into consideration about the current state of our cricket and also the plan that we need to get to within the timelines we have set.

"I would like to thank Ottis Gibson, other members of the team's current senior management, and our long-serving team manager, Dr. Moosajee, for their national service to South African cricket," he added.
