Following two separate stints at Worcestershire last year, New Zealand cricketer Hamish Rutherford has re-signed with New Road county for the 2020 season. The 30-year-old opening batsman has made himself available to play all three formats in the forthcoming season.

"I am really excited to be returning to New Road for the 2020 season," Rutherford told Cricbuzz. "I really enjoyed my two stints with the club last season and hopefully I can contribute to some success for the club next year. I look forward to catching up with my team-mates and support staff in April."

Rutherford made a big impact in his initial stint with Worcestershire last season when he scored centuries in both his first-class and List A debuts for the county against Leicestershire and Lancashire respectively. He played one County game and five One-Day Cup games in April before returning for the closing stages of the domestic season.

The son of former New Zealand Test captain Ken Rutherford, Hamish, finished with 220 runs at an average of 44 in the County Championship and was part of the T20 side that finished second best to Essex.

"Hamish is with us for the entire season which is really good for continuity," club chairman Paul Pridgeon said. "He did well for us and we thought trying to sign him for the entire summer was worth persevering with. He is available for all cricket. Hamish was very keen to come back, he is enthusiastic and has gelled with the rest of the lads in the dressing room."

To date, Rutherford has played 16 Tests, four ODIs and eight T20Is for the Black Caps.
