Stephen Constantine names 30 probables for India’s friendly against Jordan

India football coach Stephen Constantine has named a list of 30 probable players from which the team for the upcoming friendly encounter against Jordan will be picked. Last month, the Indian colts toured China for a friendly where they managed to secure a draw against better-ranked side China.

The Indian team will travel to Jordan to play a friendly match against China which will take place in King Abdullah International Stadium on November 17th. On Friday, Constantine announced a list of 30 probable players for the same match.

Last month, the Indian football team toured China for the first time to play an International friendly against their side. India, ranked 97, managed to hold a much better ranked 77 Chinese to a goalless draw, and the Indian coach would like to improve on that performance against the Jordanian side which is currently ranked 112th in FIFA rankings.

“We expect to play our game and try to win. When we play against the likes of China and Jordan, you need to understand that we are facing good teams. We will have to build on our previous result,” Constantine said.

“Our main focus will be to stay in shape with and without the ball,” he added.

The list of the probables has as many as 14 players from the Indian Under 23 squad and apart from them, the coach has also recalled goalkeeper Arindam Bhattacharjya, defender Nishu Kumar and winger Jackichand Singh for the camp which will be held in New Delhi from November 11. The squad for the match is expected to be announced after that camp.

Goalkeepers: Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, Amrinder Singh, Vishal Kaith, Arindam Bhattacharjya.

Defenders: Pritam Kotal, Nishu Kumar, Sarthak Golui, Sandesh Jhingan, Anas Edathodika, Salam Ranjan Singh, Subhasish Bose, Narayan Das, Jerry Lalrinzuala.

Midfielders: Udanta Singh, Nikhil Poojary, Pronay Halder, Rowllin Borges, Anirudh Thapa, Jackichand Singh, Vinit Rai, Germanpreet Singh, Halicharan Narzary, Ashique Kuruniyan, Bikash Jairu.

Forwards: Sunil Chhetri, Jeje Lalpekhlua, Sumeet Passi, Farukh Choudhary, Balwant Singh, Manvir Singh.
