Panel discussion to be held involving Kiren Rijiju and national sporting icons

A panel discussion is scheduled to be held on Sunday in Ahmedabad in light of the launch of the ‘Fit India’ movement by the Prime Minister a few days ago. The meeting will be attended by eminent Indian sports personalities across various fields and will be accessible live on various platforms.

Sanskardham, located in Ahmedabad, will play host to a discussion on Sunday with the agenda set as ‘Contribution of Fitness in Building New India.’ The conference has been established to further Narendra Modi’s ‘Fit India’ campaign after he launched it in the national capital on the 29th of August, which is celebrated as National Sports Day.

Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju will be present at the talk, along with several national athletes who have brought glory to the nation in their respective fields. The list includes of Dronacharya and Arjuna award winner Pullela Gopichand, Olympic medallist Gagan Narang, this year’s Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna awardee Deepa Malik, six-time world champion in boxing Mary Kom and India’s first-ever grandmaster as well as former world champion Vishwanathan Anand. Upcoming shooting sensation and junior World Cup gold medallist Elavenil Valarivan will also be present.

The members will address a wide array of topics and the topics of discussion, as per TOI, will include:

Importance of fitness in life

Their personal experiences

Their motivations and struggles

How physical, mental and emotional well-being has helped them achieve excellence in their respective fields

Their message on fitness for all

Appeal to Indians to start some form of exercise to make themselves more active and fitter and integrate that habit in their daily lives

This will be followed by a question-answer session with the students who will be allowed to attend the meet. The event will be telecast live on Doordarshan while online viewers can access the livestream on YouTube and Facebook. Radio Mirchi’s version will include exclusive conversations with Mary Kom and Deepa Malik.
