The recent season of the Ultimate Table Tennis is turning out to be an entertaining affair as fans witnessed a match between U Mumba and Chennai Lions on Friday in New Delhi. The Sharath Kamal-led Lions loss to their Mumbai-based franchise who saw former national champion Sutirtha Mukherjee pull off a major upset against Germany's Petrissa Solja by a scoreline of 11-7, 11-10, 5-11.
Mukherjee paved the way for U Mumba as she went for an unexpected 5-1 lead in the opening game. She made the most of that stunning start to take the game 11-7. She showed amazing composure when she came back from 5-10 to win her own golden point.
Meanwhile, Lions' skipper Kamal started strongly against Mumbai's Manav Thakkar as he led the opening game 11-7. However, Thakkar fought back with a score of 11-5 but couldn't avoid a loss as the senior Indian paddler’s experience proved to benefit him as he eventually ended up with 7-11, 11-5, 10-11.
