IND vs BAN | Backing Indian batting power to win the series, said VVS Laxman
Bangladesh will be kicking off their India tour on November 3 from Delhi and former India international VVS Laxman believes that it's their best chance to secure their maiden T20 win over India. While Laxman praised Bangladesh's batting depth he pointed out India's inexperienced middle order.
VVS Laxman predicted that the upcoming T20 series between India and Bangladesh will go the hosts' way but also said that this is Bangladesh's best opportunity to defeat India in India. He went on to point out India's inexperienced middle-order as the Achilles heel of the team. The absence of regular skipper Virat Kohli might be a reason why India can falter in the upcoming series with an unpredictable and inexperienced middle order. Rohit Sharma will be leading the lines for India in the series which will be underway in Delhi on November 3.
"It will be a tough series for the home team since Bangladesh are travelling with a strong side, but I feel the series will be 2-1 in favour of India. Also with the form Rohit and KL Rahul are in right now, with (Shikhar) Dhawan looking at establishing himself, I am backing the Indian batting power to win the series," Laxman said while speaking at the Game Plan show on Star Sports.
Talking about the Bangladesh side, VVS was extremely impressed by the batting depth of the side despite the absence of skipper Shakib Al Hassan and opener Tamim Iqbal. Laxman believes that it also the neighbours best chance to tame the Indian side in their very own den.
"This is the best opportunity for team Bangladesh to beat India on their home soil since they have depth in their batting line-up. However, on their bowling department pressure will be more on Mustafizur (Rahim) to deliver since the fast-bowling line-up looks inexperienced compared to their spin bowler in the team," the 44-year old said.
"Mustafizur would need to play key-role in picking-up early wickets with the new ball since Virat is not there in the side and team India seems to be little inexperienced in the middle order," he added.
Laxman is also looking forward to impressive performances from Yuzvendra Chahal and Krunal Pandya as he urged them to lead the young and inexperienced bowling line up to clinch the series.
"There is a lot of inexperience in this bowling line up so I hope Yuzendra Chahal plays all three matches. I think it's a great opportunity for other young players like Krunal Pandya to win matches and bowl those tough overs to emerge victorious."
