BCCI president Sourav Ganguly confirmed, on Thursday, that the first T20I between India and Bangladesh in Delhi will go ahead as planned, despite concerns regarding the air quality in the city. The opener of the three-match series is scheduled to be played at Arun Jaitley Stadium on November 3.

Over the past few weeks, and especially after the Diwali celebrations, the air quality in the capital city has continued to deteriorate. Having slipped into the ‘severe’ category in several places across the city, it was reported that either team may call off or adjust the timings of their outdoor training sessions ahead of the match.

This has led many to urge the national board to shift the match from Delhi, but Ganguly remained firm in the decision, as the DDCA had begun selling tickets from Monday.

"Yes, it will,” Ganguly replied when ANI contacted him.

Meanwhile, former cricketer and current BJP lawmaker Gautam Gambhir, on Wednesday, asked for more concerns regarding pollution than a cricket match.

"It is a far more serious issue than having a game of cricket or any other sports matches happens in Delhi. For us I think people living in Delhi should be more concerned about the pollution levels rather than the cricket match that happens," Gambhir said.
