For some clubs it’s easy to break rules, forget financial fair play and spend, proclaims Jose Mourinho

After more than five months of speculation, Manchester City’s two year UEFA competitions ban was overturned in a landmark decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport. The CAS decided that UEFA’s investigation did not have enough evidence to convince a two-year ban from UEFA competitions but they did hand the Cityzens a fine for failure to co-operate with the investigation. The CAS ruling, however, has come under immense criticism from fans and managers alike over the last few days.

It has seen both Jose Mourinho and Jurgen Klopp admit that the decision was a bad one although Mourinho has now taken things one thing further. In his pre-match press conference, the former Manchester United and Chelsea manager took another dig at Manchester City and admitted that the decision now makes things easier for City. He also added that there are “other clubs” who will follow the rules and play a “fair competition” instead of breaking the rules.

"For some clubs it's easy, you just break the rules, you forget the financial fair play, you spend what you want and you get the good players. For some other clubs, it's more difficult who want to follow the rules. You don't want to be seen with the eyes of breaking the rules and not playing a fair competition and for this profile of club, this situation is more complicated but I know what Tottenham is before I sign my contract,” Mourinho said, reported ESPN.
