Thailand Open is getting the final it deserves on Sunday when PV Sindhu will be taking on her old nemesis Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara in the women’s doubles final. Both the shuttlers have faced each other 10 times prior to this and no one has a clear edge yet that reflects the intensity of the rivalry.

Sindhu had a tricky game against Indonesia’s Gregoria Mariska Tunjung in three-setter match on Saturday, which more than anything would keep the Indian World No. 3 on her toes before her biggest match of the campaign. Despite starting in her familiar dominating fashion, the Indonesian took the first game, where Sindhu had t dig deep Sindhu to win 23-21 before eventually leveling the match by winning the second game. 16-21. However, Mariska lost out of steam for the decider and Sindhu won it rather comfortably 21-9.  

However, it won’t be this straight against Okuhara. The Japanese was pulled to the deciding only by Beiwen Zhang in the tournament so far, but the World No. 4 hardly looked out of ideas. Out the 10 times that Okuhara has faced Sindhu, eight matches have gone to the decider. After Sindhu got the better of the Japanese at the All England Open in March earlier this year, Okuhara would be looking to settle the score.
