Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) has inducted former South Africa skipper Graeme Smith and former Australian spinner Tim May as the life members of the club. The duo will follow Paul Collingwood, AB de Villiers, Mitchell Johnson in being awarded the life membership of the MCC in 2019.

South Africa's youngest-ever captain and one of the most inspirational captains of all-time, Graeme Smith's contribution to South African cricket is a humongous one. Leading the team from the front, Smith ended up with 27 Test centuries and finished his career with 9,265 runs at an average of 48.25. As far as success at Lord's goes, the reason MCC preferred him, his first tour of England in 2003 saw him registering two double-centuries in the first two Tests of the series. He went on to score 259 runs at Lord's Cricket Ground and in the process, he broke Sir Don Bradman's record of the highest individual score at the ground.

"The Club has also recognised @CricketAus spinner, and MCC World Cricket Committee member, Tim May with Honorary Life Membership," Lord's Cricket Ground's official handle tweeted.

The other inductee to the club, May made his Test debut for Australia in 1987 and went on to represent the country 24 Tests, finishing his career with 75 wickets, with a remarkable best of 5 for 9 against the West Indies in 1993. His only game at Lord's in the 1993 Ashes Series saw him registering his name on the Lord's Honours Board.
