Delhi Gold Club captain Rohit Sabherwal has hit out at star golfer Rashid Khan revealing his earnings and stating that the player should redefine his “humble background” claims. The golfer has also been likened to a “trade union leader”, who has led a group of players against the club.

After Rashid Khan created furore on social media stating how the DGC has denied him playing right for his “humble background” the club has hit back at the golfer making a list of accusations stating that the golfer is basically trying to arm-twist the club for its “membership rights”, something that requires over 30 years normally.

After DGC president Major Ravinder Singh Bedi revealed on Tuesday how the club picked Rashid and made him the golfer that he is, DGC captain, Rohit Sabherwal went on to reveal other details about his income and how claims are wrong.

“Rashid’s career earning is over Rs 7 crore. His PGTI earning is close to Rs 2.83 crore. He comes to the club in a BMW. With all due respect to his golf prowess and the talent he has, you need to redefine humble background,” said Sabherwal, reported TOI.

Bedi had also revealed that the The DGC committee had banned him on several counts, which includes bringing disrepute to the club, dragging it to the Delhi High Court, levelling false allegations against them, and more. The club administration has also accused Rashid of behaving like a “trade union leader”, who has been leading a group of amateur professional golfers and even gave “death threats” to the committee members.

“Even on 19th of this month, the same group (Rashid was not around) blocked my way while I was leaving the club and confined me in my car in the searing May heat for close to two hours,” Bedi remarked.
