Fuelled by the presence of Olympic Gold-medalist Carolina Marin, Hyderabad Hunters will try to bury the horrible performance of last year, in this edition of PBL. Apart from Marin, Hunters also have the likes of Sameer Verma and Rajiv Ouseph in their arsenal to pose a threat to other teams.

The Hyderabad-based franchise spent a whopping amount of Rs. 61.5 lakhs to buy the services of No.1 Women shuttler of the world Carolina Marin. The left-handed shuttler has shown her capabilities at the Rio Olympics, by winning the Gold medal but her form has gradually diminished after that. Since the Rio Games, her fans have seen a player who has taken a fall from grace losing regularly to players who would have had a shiver run down their spine at the very thought of playing her just three months earlier. She would have to find back her fearsome touch at the PBL.

Indian star Sameer Verma had reached his maiden Superseries final at the Hong Kong Open in November and will look to contribute that form for his franchise to bolster their chances. Hyderabad were able to snatch English star Rajiv Ouseph from defending champions Delhi Acers, who has plenty of experience at the top level and will try to bring that to fore during this PBL.

World No. 37 B Sai Praneeth clinched his maiden Grand Prix title at the Canada Open in 2016 and reached the quarter-finals of the Macau Open to end the season on a high. Praneeth will be a big asset for the Hunters.

World No. 1 Tan Wee Kiong and the former World No. 1 Tan Boon Heong will take care of the Men’s doubles along with Indian ace Satwiksairaj Rankireddy. Female shuttler Meghana Jakkampudi, who won the Nepal International Series in December, will add his experience to the Hunters doubles’ unit.
