Maharashtra includes Ritika Thaker and Rashi Lambe in West Zone Badminton Championship

Ritika Thaker and Rashi Lambe have been picked to represent the Maharashtra team in the upcoming West Zone Badminton Championship after having a great year in terms of performances on the court. The duo from Nagpur will be asked to play the role of double specialists in the team.

Emerging shuttlers Ritika Thaker and Rashi Lambe have both found a place in the Maharashtra squad that would be participating in the West Zone Badminton Championship scheduled to be held from the 18th to the 21st of September in Mapusa, Goa.

The announcement by the Maharashtra Badminton Academy on Monday recognized the duo from Nagpur of them as double specialists, with Ritika Thaker also securing a spot in the U-19 juniors mixed side. Mumbai Suburban’s Kaushal Dharmamer will be leading the contingent that also includes three players from Thane, two from Pune and a solitary player from Nashik, apart from another Mumbai Suburban representative.

Meanwhile, the junior team has a majority of Pune players including six of them from the city along with three players from Thane and one from Nagpur. The ten-member team will be coached by former Olympian Nikhil Kanetkar while MBA’s senior vice-president Ashish Bajpai will assume managerial duties.

Maharashtra will be aiming to defend the crown after having won both the seniors and juniors title in Bilaspur the previous year. They will clash against Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat and the hosts in an attempt to retain the trophy.
