GAMEWEEK 2
20 Aug, 02:25
GAMEWEEK 2
That's that for Gameweek 2, and we're finally wrapped up with it. It's been a rather interesting week, with Liverpool and Arsenal the only two sides still on a winning run. Everton however, are the only side yet to concede a goal in the Premier League, with Wolves now 13th in the league table after their second draw of the season.
Next week brings its own share of drama, but for now, this is me (Siddhant), saying goodbye and goodnight. Have a great week!!
20 Aug, 02:23
WOL 1-1 MUN (FT)
Full-time whistle and Manchester United walk away with their unbeatnen start for the season still ongoing. They have, however, dropped points for the first time this season and doing it against a side that they've failed to win in the last three games was always going to be a very tough task.
That's exactly what it proved to be, but for Nuno Espirito Santo, he has a lot of work to do on his team before the pressure part starts again on Thursday night. They cannot play like this, especially if they want to get a result out of Torino.
20 Aug, 02:20
WOL 1-1 MUN
Four minutes of extra time but there still isn't a bonafide winner visible. It does look like points will be shared between both sides, although rather unhappily by one side given their sheer dominance in both halves.
20 Aug, 02:18
WOL 1-1 MUN
Final changes for Wolves as they replace Raul Jimenez for Patrick Cutrone, the former AC Milan man, who comes on to an ecstatic Molineux. The Mexican has been a menace once again, although he has failed to net/contribute to a goal against a top-six side for the first time in a while.
20 Aug, 02:16
WOL 1-1 MUN
It's a double change for Manchester United as Mason Greenwood replaces Daniel James, alongside Andreas Periera replacing Marcus Rashford. That's a surprising move from Ole, but Rashford was beginning to tire a little, with Greenwood and Pereira able options off the bench.
20 Aug, 02:12
WOL 1-1 MUN
Wolves are set to hand a Premier League debut to Pedro Neto, the 19-year-old summer signing and he is set to replace forward Diogo Jota. The Portuguese international is still looking for his first goal of the season and really hasn't looked up to the mark tonight.
Nothing has gone right for him but he'll still walk off to resounding applause.
20 Aug, 02:07
WOL 1-1 MUN
And so it does, with Juan Mata stretching and getting his final instructions from the manager, and it does seem like he'll be replacing Jesse Lingard. We could be wrong, but clearly not as the Englishman walks off the field, albeit looking a little irritated.
20 Aug, 02:06
WOL 1-1 MUN
The game has slowly come to a toe-to-toe battle between the two sides, although possession domination has only been done rather well by one club. And it's not the home side, with Manchester United controlling the ball, but not the game. No substitutions as of yet from Manchester United, but that could change any moment now.

PENALTY SAVED!!!
And it's saved by Rui Patricio. That may have been a rather powerful shot, but it was straight at the Portuguese goalkeeper, who guess the right way. Pogba's shot wasn't really in the corner but guess what Molineux does again??
They erupt, chanting Patricio's name now.
20 Aug, 01:57
WOL 1-1 MUN
PENALTY!!!
Paul Pogba waltzes into the box after a nice one-two with Tony Martial and is tripped by Connor Coady. The ref takes no time in pointing to the spot and Big Brother has no objections to that decision.
Marcus Rashford hands Pogba the ball, he places it, walks back and.....
20 Aug, 01:53
WOL 1-1 MUN
As we still marvel at the Ruben Neves strike, the game has moved on, with Wolves finally getting back into the game. They look much much better with Adama Traore on the field, and the speedster has offered so much going forward.
The home side still needs to create more, but getting back in the game itself has been a massive achievement after their first half performance

WOL 1-1 MUN
GOOOOOOOALLLLLLLLL!!!
He makes no mistake, carefully guiding the ball into the top corner from just outside 20 yards, which such ease that it gives us hope to try it with a tennis ball. That was perfection from Neves, and it means that he's now scored 13 goals for Wolves, with 10 of them coming from outside the box.
The game is back on ladies and gentlemen, the game is back on. The perfect first goal of the season for Wolves and the Molineux erupts yet again. That's been a theme.
20 Aug, 01:44
WOL 0-1 MUN
Corner taken short after that rumble tumble bit of play from Wolves, Moutinho hands it off to Diogo Jota who lays it off for the Portuguese man, who floats another cross in. The ball flies towards Ruben Neves, his first touch is immaculate and.....
20 Aug, 01:42
WOL 0-1 MUN
Ooooo, that was only so close and Raul Jimenez was very very unlucky there, as Joao Moutinho floats in a cross from just outside the box on the right hand side. The Mexican's header cannons off the bar, then off De Gea and is eventually cleared out.
Cannot get any closer than that.
20 Aug, 01:38
WOL 0-1 MUN
A delightful cross in from Aaron-Wan Bissaka on the other side but Jesse Lingard mistimes his shot completely. The ball harmlessly barrels off his knee instead of his flying foot much to the groans of the away side's fans.
It would have been a rather lovely piece of play from the away side..
20 Aug, 01:36
WOL 0-1 MUN
An immediate chance for Wolves, as Adama Traore, sends in a rather nice cross but Manchester United have Harry Maguire to deal with things. The ball comes back into the box via Ruben Neves and Jonny Otto's cross is deflected out for a corner. Nothing happens of the resulting corner, and Wolves continue to try and create space for their attackers to do something.
20 Aug, 01:33
WOL 0-1 MUN
KICK OFF!!
And we are off for the second half, with Manchester United kicking things off and we have a change from the home side. Matt Doherty is replaced by the flash in Adama Traore, with the former Barcelona youngster brought on to add his searing pace to the pan.
20 Aug, 01:19
WOL 0-1 MUN (HT)
Half time and Wolves have a lot of work to do in the second half if they want to have any chance of coming close to even trying to get an equaliser. Manchester United, on the other hand, have been surprisingly dominant both offensively and defensively, with their three new men, adapting brilliantly to the 8 old ones.
20 Aug, 01:17
WOL 0-1 MUN
Just one minute of extra time as we approach half-time and nothing too much has really happened over the last five minutes.... A chance for Martial as Willy Boly just does enough to prevent the goalscorer from doubling his tally just before the whistle.
20 Aug, 01:09
WOL 0-1 MUN
35 minutes into the game and Manchester United look absolutely dominant with the ball. They haven't created too many clear cut chances, but are slowly moving the ball towards the opposition box. The home side, on the other hand, looks tired after their European adventures which is set to continue against Torino on Thursday night.
They do not look like the potent counter-attacking unit they were last season and will welcome the half-time break.

15 minutes in and it has been tight but dominant from one side. Manchester United have dominated possession but failed to do anything meaningful with their 74% ball possession. Then again neither has Wolves on any of their rare counters, which is what they are soo good at.
It's been an interesting battle (called it!), but one team needs to do something to spice things up.

Bad stat for Manchester United, as Peter Drury, announces that the Red Devils haven't won in England since....wait for it...... February!!! That's a sensational streak and not one that a club like Manchester United need to be coming home to.

WOL 0-0 MUN
Nothing comes from the resulting Wolves corner, but a Manchester United fast-break, with the home fans booing Dan James the moment he gets the ball. They believe he dived for his claimed foul a few minutes ago, although nothing was given either way.
20 Aug, 01:05
WOL 0-0 MUN
Dan James' pace and positioning is already causing a few problems for the home side, but so is Raul Jimenez's aggression and never-say-die attitude. The 28-year-old holds the ball off after some haphazard defending for Wolves and a preceding counter-attack, but Doherty's cross is deflected.

Owen Hargreaves has made a rather stunning claim, that outside the top six, Raul Jimenez is the best center-forward in the Premier League. True or false, there is no doubting just what the Mexican international can do and his stats are pretty damnn impressive.
In his debut Premier League season, the 28-year-old finished with 7 goal contributions against the top six sides. To put that in perspective, Sergio Aguero had two more while Raheem Sterling had just one more. He ended up finishing the season with 17 goals and 8 assists.
He also already has four goals to his name so far, although all have come in the Europa League's qualifying stages.

GAMEWEEK 2
Looking at the world through a pair of glasses belonging to a Manchester United fan, isn't fun, on the other hand,
- Reason numero uno is, the Red Devils have lost more Premier League away games at Wolves than they have won (W2, L3). The other three teams they've faced at least five times on the road are Chelsea, Arsenal and Sheffield Wednesday!!!
- Number two, is they are on a four-game winless away streak, a record that is only bettered by a seven-game winless away streak. That record was set by David Moyes, Ryan Giggs and Louis Van Gaal.
- Finally comes the third and potentially their biggest problem, with the sheer fact that United have managed just two wins from their nine away games against the top 10 sides. A list that included Leicester City, Wolves, West Ham and Everton.
19 Aug, 03:34
GAMEWEEK 2
Let's take a look at things standing right beside the home side aka Wolves.
- First up, is the fact that Wolves were undefeated in three matches against Manchester United in all competitions last season. This includes a draw and two consecutive wins...
- Which brings us to the second point, with Wolves looking to make it three wins in a row against the Red Devils. The last time they did that, Liverpool still had more league titles than United, which is a long long long long time ago.
- The third point is the fact that they had the division's third-best record against the "Big Six" sides last season - only Liverpool and Manchester City had more - with 16 points to their name.
- Up at four is a rather quirky one, but Wolves have never managed to win a Premier League game on Monday, going 0 for 5. Time to change that?
19 Aug, 02:46
GAMEWEEK 2
Welcome back folks for one last Gameweek 2 game and it's a great one to end the week on. Ole's Manchester United take on Nuno's Wolves in what should be the battle of the week. Even better than that drab draw between Manchester City and Tottenham.

To re-cap:
Sheffield United 1-0 Crystal Palace
Chelsea 1-1 Leicester City.
18 Aug, 10:57
CHE 1-1 LEI (FT)
Beep, beep, beeeep. The final whistle blows and in the end, it somehow finishes 1-1, even though it should have so much more. Chelsea may have dominated the first half, with Leicester City disappearing for large parts of that opening half before the second half started. That combined with whatever was said to them during that 15-minute break changed the game.
The Foxes managed to up their offensive tempo, tighten up at the back and started playing much better on the whole. They eventually got their goal back via the Wilfred Ndidi, and the Nigerian really deserved his redemption. That set up the rest of the game, although while the Foxes did get the better chances, they failed to make the most out of them.
In the end, it finishes 1-1, and Chelsea are off the mark for the season.

And that's that for the first half. Super Frankie gets off to a flyer in the first half and Leicester City have had no answer whatsoever for anything the Blues threw at them. In the end, a high press won out, Wilfred Ndidi lost out and Mason Mount got the first Premier League goal of his career!!
The Foxes need to make a change if they are to find a way back into this game in the second half, and Rodgers needs to something magical.

Leicester City have worked themselves back into the game but have still struggled to create much in the final third. The same applied in their Premier League opener against Wolves and the same applies now. Something needs to change and maybe it's formation.
Trying to fit Ayoze Perez, Youri Tielemans and James Maddison all in one team is a tough tough job, and Brendan Rodgers has sacrificed a wide-attacker to do just that. Harvey Barnes is on the bench, maybe he can try and make an impact as a super-sub.

A peach of a pass from James Maddison, but nobody got a foot on the ball!! The ball practically screamed for a touch as it swerved smack in the middle of no man's land and there was nothing that Kepa or the Chelsea back-line could have done.
Oh Leicester City, what has happened to thou?

Cannot quite wrap my head around the fact that Ashley Cole won more league titles with Arsenal than Chelsea. I know it’s true. It just feels like it isn’t.

Finally, some sign of life in the body that has been called Jamie Vardy. The Englishman has looked a shadow of his pesky self in recent weeks, but he puts the screws on Kepa and nearly gets a goal for his reward. Luck was simply not on his side, as the Spaniard gets a foot to the ball to poke it past Vardy and towards a man in Blue.

Gorgeous, gorgeous play from Chelsea as they effortlessly move the ball towards Leicester's goal in a Manchester City-esque way. A brilliant layoff from Oli Giroud for fellow Frenchman N'Golo Kante but Christian Fuchs makes a magnificent last-ditch tackle.
That was going in, if not for the Premier League title-winning left-back. Nothing comes off the resulting corner and the game goes back to being fought in the midfield.

And the battle continues, as Jonny Evans pulls down Giroud now and the Frenchman is baffled, to say the least. The former Manchester United man couldn't have done anything else barring sit on the Frenchman's face in joy, to prove that was deliberate.

Leicester's backline may have been tried and tested against a side like Wolverhampton Wanderers but they're struggling against Chelsea. Mason Mount has found an inch of free space inside the box, but his header after some great work by Azpilicueta is straight at Kasper Schmeichel.
If that had been on either side, then the young midfielder would be off on yet another celebration.
