Twitter reacts as Virat Kohli gives Rabada a “thumbs up” for gifting him five overthrow runs

Kagiso Rabada was at his fiery best with the ball on Thursday, sending all three of India’s top-order batsmen back to the pavilion. On the field, however, a sloppy moment of his saw him gifting five runs to Kohli and the Indian skipper made sure he thanked Rabada by giving him a thumbs up.

Unlike Vizag, South Africa’s fiery speedster Kagiso Rabada was on the money with the ball from ball one in Pune and troubled the Indian batsmen with his pace and movement. He sent Rohit Sharma back to the hut early in an absurd spell in the morning session which saw him bowl 10 overs in one session and then removed a well-set, dangerous-looking Mayank Agarwal post-tea.

However, the same cannot be said of his performance on the field. When Kohli dabbed the ball towards him and tried to steal a quick single, Rabada was slow to react to it. When he eventually collected the ball, the speedster let out a lazy-looking, wayward throw which actually resulted in five overthrows. Skipper Faf du Plessis and Maharaj were fuming with the effort, but Kohli, however, ensured that he acknowledged Rabada’s “gift”, as he showed him a thumbs-up sign for awarding him five extra runs.

Here is how Twitter reacted to the incident:
