The dope cloud surrounding India’s biggest-ever Olympic contingent is increasing day by day with one more Indian athlete allegedly missing the flight to Rio due to a case of doping. According to a Times of India report, 200m runner Dharambir Singh has allegedly failed a dope test conducted by NADA.

After wrestler Narsingh Yadav and shot putter Inderjeet Singh, 200m sprinter Dharmabir Singh has become the third Indian athlete to come under the scanner. When Narsingh got a clean chit from NADA to participate in Rio, Inderjeet’s hopes of making it to the Olympics looks almost over after he failed a second dope test yesterday.

If the report in Times of India is to be believed, Dharambir, 27, the first Indian male sprinter to qualify for the Olympics in 36 years, has failed a drug test conducted by the National Anti-Doping Agency and has been told to stay back. The sprinter also failed to turn up for his flight to Rio on Tuesday, raising more suspicion.

The 27-year-old, who qualified for the Olympics during the Indian Grand Prix in July, was reportedly told about the failed test three days back. His timings in practice was erratic and this raised the doubts, reported TOI.
